My new boss is Robert Redford
If that headline doesn't grab you, I don't know what will! So here's a little backstory. Before making movies, I started my career in college developing educational tech and websites. I dreamed of an internet where students from all over the world could connect and collaborate in real time. But speed and bandwidth weren't quite there yet. Fast forward a couple decades and the vision I had for what the web could be and do are a reality, and I'm lucky enough to get to combine this reality with my love of filmmaking under the umbrella one of the world's most exciting arts organizations, the Sundance Institute. The Institute has brought me on to help develop and run Co//ab, a digital extension of its Labs and Festival aimed at opening access to and creating meaningful learning experiences for emerging storytellers from around the world. The site is only in BETA and already has participants from diverse backgrounds and over 90 countries. I am developing live, online master classes and courses on topics like screenwriting and directing, with such indie luminaries as Kimberly Peirce (Boys Don't Cry), Peter Sollett (Raising Victor Vargas), Tyger Williams (Menace II Society), and more. Beyond excited to be part of this bold experiment!
